About the course:
A concept of mechanical ventilation changes day-to-day: the volume-based approach used in the past was altered to pressure-based instead. Moreover, new settings and triggers were implemented in the latest devices: from expensive hi-tech narcosis stations to bedside devices that may be part of supportive care in any unit.

The course will help you not only to get manual skills on how to work with the positive pressure devices – it will provide you with the basic knowledge of physiology, physics and monitoring of ventilation. After the event, you will be able to choose the best options for the actual situation taking into account corresponsive methods of control of the treatment and the patient’s condition.

After the course you will be familiar with:

• Basics of the physiology of the respiratory system
• Basic principles of the volume and pressure control mechanical ventilation
• Basic mechanical ventilation modes and their commercial names; unique mechanical ventilation modes for the most common devices
• Monitoring for the patients on mechanical ventilation/respiratory support
• Hypoxia and hypercapnia correction
• Non-invasive ventilation and respiratory support
• Neurocontrolled respiratory support
• High-frequency oscillatory ventilation
• Lung recruitment manoeuvre in cases of respiratory support
• POCUS in emergency cases for the patients with respiratory support; B.L.U.E. protocol
• Mechanical ventilation during patients’ transport
